In order to provide products that meet and exceed customer needs, KYOCERA Document Solutions not only complies with the safety standards, laws and regulations of each country, but also incorporates customer feedback, such as inquiries, complaints and requests, into its product planning stage, and constantly strives to deliver higher quality products.

Efforts toward Realizing the Standard of Quality to Which KYOCERA Document Solutions Aspires

KYOCERA Document Solutions considers listening closely to customers and creating products developed from the customer's point of view to be its most important duties. To fulfill these responsibilities, KYOCERA Document Solutions implements the following reliability and safety assessments.

Realizing High Reliability

To ensure that our products work consistently in the customer's environment, we conduct joint assessments with product planning and service staff from our domestic and overseas sales companies, at an early stage of development. The purpose of these joint assessments is to identify and correct problems caused by the environments and usage unique to respective markets before the products are launched. To offer the highest possible standards in terms of performance, reliability and image quality, we conduct various types of tests. For example, we conduct tests under harsh environments ranging from extremely hot and humid to extremely cold and dry, using various types of paper used in countries where our products are sold. We also perform tests under different atmospheric pressures, to check whether high image quality is maintained without being affected by air pressure variation. Our wide-ranging tests cover approximately 1,000 test items.

Assuring Safety

In addition to meeting safety standards in countries around the world, we have created our company's own PL (Product Liability) Product Safety Standards to remove potential risks beforehand. As part of our product development process, we disassemble actual machines to identify structural problems and test serviceability and maintainability.

Promotion of Quality Control

We seek to ensure the safety of our products at all stages of our business activities-from product planning, design and development to parts procurement, manufacturing, sales, advertising, servicing and disposal. Furthermore, in an effort to maintain and improve the quality of our products, we analyze and resolve customer inquiries (VOC) received at our Call Center, in cooperation with technical departments. We continually strive to improve our products by incorporating customer feedback into product design and development.

KYOCERA Document Solutions PL Management Rules

Our product safety standards are subject to constant change, for instance to reflect customer needs, or to establish new technologies. Therefore, we review safety assessment criteria from time to time, so that our customers can always use our products safely.

In addition to compliance with applicable product safety regulations (safety standards, radio wave standards, circuit standards, laser standards, environmental regulations, etc.) in every country where our products are sold, KYOCERA Document Solutions has its own "KYOCERA Document Solutions PL Management Rules" in place, which specify the steps for securing product safety and the roles assigned to each department in order to prevent accidents.

Responding to Quality Problems

In the event that a quality problem arises in a product on the market, the information is communicated from the sales company's quality support department to the Corporate Quality Assurance Division at the Headquarters. Depending on the nature of the problem, the sales company's quality support staff and Headquarters staff will visit the scene of the problem together, in order to grasp the facts accurately and solve the problem quickly. The cause of the problem is determined using a system diagram, the problem is reproduced and verified thoroughly, and then a genuine investigation of the cause takes place and countermeasures are implemented, to ensure that recurrence is prevented. The results are also reflected in future products to prevent similar quality problems from occurring.

Safety Design Screening Committee

To ensure that our customers can use our products with absolute confidence and to further improve the safety of our products, we have established the Safety Design Screening Committee, comprising staff members from the technical and quality assurance departments.

In order to ensure the safe and reliable operation of products, it is necessary to design products based on a thorough understanding of the real conditions and environment where products are used. Based on this belief, the Corporate Quality Assurance Division ensures, through the Safety Design Screening Committee, that information obtained from users is effectively incorporated into the product design.
