Promotion of Recreational Activities

With the aim of promoting communication among employees and with local residents as well as the health of employees, KYOCERA Document Solutions organizes various recreation programs every year, including an athletic meet and a summer evening festival.

Athletic Meet, Sports Festival

Each year KYOCERA Document Solutions holds an athletic meet and a sports festival to promote the health of its employees. Athletic meets are held at all KYOCERA Document Solutions business sites in Japan; in fiscal 2010 a total of 2,200 employees took part. Athletic meets, in which employees compete in teams against one another to win games, not only help promote employees' health, but also foster and strengthen a sense of unity among employees.

Furthermore, to promote friendships and communication among employees of the Kyocera Group, the Kyocera Group Sports Festival, organized by the labor union, is held each year at a rotating venue. In the Sports Festival, teams representing each of the Kyocera Group companies and business sites take part to compete in various games.

On April 24, 2010, the KYOCERA Document Solutions sports festival was held at the Higashi Osaka Arena. This event also served as a prelude to select members who represent KYOCERA Document Solutions at the Kyocera Group Sports Festival. The KYOCERA Document Solutions team, which consisted primarily of members from the winning team at the KYOCERA Document Solutions sports festival, took part in the Kyocera Group Sports Festival, held on June 13 in Kitami City, Hokkaido. These sports events help improve communication among employees though practice and preparation, leading to revitalization of the company.

Summer Evening Festival

On July 31, 2010, a summer evening festival was held at the Headquarters, attracting about 2,800 visitors including local residents and employees' families. The festival was a great success, blessed with wonderful weather. In addition to stage performances and events, the festival featured a rummage sale, and food and game booths. Thirteen food booths and eight game booths were set up throughout the festival grounds, each displaying colorful handmade signs and offering some unique treats to attract customers. On the stage, a variety of fun events produced by the Headquarters employees were held, including a live concert by the light music club, a quiz competition and a lottery. Visitors seemed to really enjoy these "homemade" events. Since it was the first time in quite a while that the Headquarters held a summer evening festival inviting local residents, the festival was a great opportunity to express its gratitude to local residents and to interact with them in a relaxed, fun environment.

On the same day, a summer evening festival was also held at the Tamaki Plant. Visitors were fascinated with the dynamic sounds and rhythms of a taiko drum performance by the Tamaki Castle Taiko Conservation Club. Visitors also enjoyed a bon dance together. On August 7, a summer evening festival was held at the Hirakata Plant, featuring a performance by Hirakata-Tsuda High School Brass Band and a balloon art performance. These performances were greeted with applause from visitors.

We will continue to hold summer evening festivals to provide our employees with the opportunity to interact with each other and with local residents

VOICE: Holding a Summer Evening Festival featuring a Tamagawa Fireworks Viewing Party

たまがわ花火大会を目玉に納涼祭開催

To promote communication with local residents and to allow employees and their families to meet and interact with each other, Tokyo R&D Center holds a summer night festival each year, just after the summer holiday.

This year's festival, featuring Tamagawa fireworks viewing, was held jointly with Kyocera Tokyo Yoga Office on August 21 (Sat) on the rooftop of the Yoga Building. The festival was a great success, blessed with good weather. At around 5:30 in the evening, employees of KYOCERA Document Solutions, Kyocera and cooperating companies as well as their families started to gather at the venue, with a total of 180 people turning out. At 18:00, the summer evening festival began with a welcome address from the Director of the Yoga Office, followed by an exciting lottery.

It got dark around 19:00, and the Tamagawa Fireworks Display began. The Tamagawa Fireworks Display is a unique fireworks display, in which fireworks are fired simultaneously from both sides of the Tama River-the Setagaya side and the Kawasaki side. The rooftop of the Yoga Building is a perfect spot for viewing the fireworks.

The event provided a great opportunity for employees to talk to those whom they normally have little opportunity to meet face-to-face, which serves as a plus for their work in the future. We plan to hold a variety of events to afford employees the opportunity to interact outside of their day-to-day jobs, which I think will certainly foster a sense of camaraderie and unity among the employees.

Club Activities

Many employees enjoy various activities at clubs officially recognized by the company, to cultivate friendships, promote mental and physical health, and spend fulfilling leisure time. There are a total of 12 officially recognized sports and cultural clubs, seven in the Headquarters and five in the Tamaki Plant. Through participation in the regional leagues and various local events, these clubs play a role in contributing to local communities and increasing the name recognition of the company.
