Promoting CSR Procurement in Collaboration with Our Business Partners

Since fiscal 2008, we have been promoting CSR procurement. As part of such efforts, we have surveyed our domestic suppliers regarding their CSR procurement implementation status. We have already completed detailed analysis and evaluation of the survey results. We have also distributed the KYOCERA Document Solutions Supply Chain CSR Promotion Guidebook ("Guidebook") to our overseas suppliers, including those in Hong Kong and China.

When initiating relationships with new suppliers in Japan, we make it a rule to provide them with the Guidebook and the "Kyocera Mita Supply Chain CSR Promotion Check Sheet" ("Check Sheet"). We ask new suppliers to read the Guidebook carefully in order to understand Kyocera Mita's CSR policy and also to investigate and understand the current status of their CSR procurement, using the Check Sheet. In the future, we plan to conduct a follow-up survey with the previously-surveyed suppliers to assess their current status of CSR procurement, focusing on the items judged as needing improvement in the previous survey.

With fiscal 2011 as a preparation year, we plan to survey our suppliers in Hong Kong and China to assess their CSR procurement status through the Check Sheet. To define specific procedures and details for conducting survey, we visited several suppliers in Hong Kong and China to conduct interviews and sought opinions from third parties. Our next planned activity is to hold briefing sessions on the CSR procurement survey for suppliers in Hong Kong and China. To promote CSR procurement practices among all our suppliers, we plan to develop and implement effective approaches.
