The priority target for FY2017 was a reduction in power, water and paper consumption, as well as in hazardous waste emissions, continuing the approach of the previous year. Based on the previous year's total production of basic units, the target was set to reduce power, water and paper consumption by 5% and reduce the amount of hazardous waste emissions from the previous year. As for the results of FY2017, although total production increased to 1.79 times that of the previous year, we successfully reduced power and water consumption by over 35% respectively and hazardous waste emissions by over 20%, due to various energy-saving efforts such as the revisions of operating areas, operating time and set temperature of air-conditioning, and continuous adjustment in the volume of water used for hand washing. However, we failed to achieve the target in terms of a reduction in paper consumption.

Due to the revision of operating time and set temperatures of air-conditioning at production buildings and canteen from June 2016, the electricity consumption has been reduced by 23.3%, compared with the pre-revised one.
Awareness of stopping individual air conditioning in unused areas has been strengthened by displaying area layout drawing and cautionary statement near the operation switches, and fully air-conditioning is automatically ON/OFF-controlled by installing programmable timers.
