As a member of the Kyocera Group, KYOCERA Document Solutions is committed to actively engaging in various activities to contribute to society through its business activities, while upholding management rationale: "To provide opportunities for the material and intellectual growth of all our employees, and through our joint efforts, contribute to the advancement of society and humankind."

KYOCERA Document Solutions has grown thanks to warm support from its customers, business partners and the local communities. In the hope of returning our gratitude toward the warm support we have received from our stakeholders, we established the Social Contribution Committee in May 2007 to further promote our social contribution activities. We engage in various activities, with a special focus on promoting the healthy development of children, while adhering to the principle of benefiting others.

The Social Contribution Committee, established in May 2007, has been promoting activities in accordance with the following five principles:
The President of KYOCERA Document Solutions serves as the chairperson of the Social Contribution Committee, and the Senior General Manager of the Corporate CSR Promotion Division acts as the vice chairperson. The CSR Promotion Department serves as secretariat of the Committee. The Committee is organized in a matrix structure, which combines subcommittees by activity field and business site. The Committee members elected from each business site and division may belong to any of the subcommittees. Currently, the Committee's activities are limited to within Japan; overseas business sites plan and carry out their own social contribution activities.

It has been five years since the Social Contribution Committee's activities were launched. In the beginning, most activities were headquarters-driven. However, each business site has gradually started their own initiatives, and many programs and activities are now being undertaken that reflect the unique characteristics of each region.
The Social Contribution Committee places a special focus on promoting the healthy development of young people. In addition to youth support programs, the Committee has also actively engaged in activities to preserve local historic sites and natural monuments. Recently, the Committee has taken on a new challenge of biodiversity conservation. As part of such efforts, the Committee organizes and implements various projects such as the protection of endangered species and the control of invasive nonnative species. I hope that through participation in these activities KYOCERA Document Solutions Group employees will become more familiar with environmental issues. I also hope that our employees will become more aware of the social role of our company through interaction with local communities and NPOs.
In the face of the awesome power of Mother Nature demonstrated in the March 11 Great East Japan Earthquake, I became acutely aware of the importance of "learning to be contented" in order to coexist harmoniously with nature. Through disaster relief activities, I have also realized anew that a spirit of altruism will help form and strengthen emotional bonds with others, which are vital to and enrich our lives.
In the wake of the disaster, whole-hearted support has been offered in the form of monetary donations, from our fellow members working at KYOCERA Document Solutions across the world. I was deeply moved by realizing that "seeds of smiles" have now spread around the world. We will continue our utmost efforts to spread the seeds of smiles further. Since its founding, KYOCERA Document Solutions has adhered to the management rationale: "To provide opportunities for the material and intellectual growth of all our employees," and to the management philosophies of "living together with society," "living together with the world" and "living together with nature." Believing that connecting with society will enrich our lives and minds, we will encourage all KYOCERA Document Solutions Group employees across the world to be actively involved in environmental conservation and social contribution activities.
The Social Contribution Committee will endeavor to enhance each individual employee's commitment to social contribution, which we believe will lead to the further growth and development of our company. We are determined to vigorously promote social contribution activities, thereby nurturing the courage in each employee to take a step forward to perform "something that he/she can do now."
