The Humanitarian/Disaster Relief Subcommittee organizes various humanitarian activities to help save lives and alleviate human suffering, including blood donation camps and contributions to UNICEF, which commenced in fiscal 2010. These activities are supported and participated in by many employees.

KYOCERA Document Solutions organizes blood donation drives at its business sites. In fiscal 2010, a blood donation camp was held at the Headquarters in May and November, at the Tamaki Plant in June and December, and at the Hirakata Plant in November. A total of 566 employees donated blood. The Japan Red Cross Society staff expressed their gratitude for our employees' cooperation, saying: "We are very grateful to the many KYOCERA Document Solutions employees that donate blood every year." We will continue blood donation drives as one of our social contribution activities.

As part of our social contribution activities, in December 2010 and March 2011 we collected from employees old books and CDs that they no longer needed to raise money for children in need. Although we had not conducted this type of activity before, thanks to the cooperation of the employees, a total of 470 items were collected and converted into money, which was then donated to UNICEF.
The significance of this activity is to use unwanted or unused items for social contribution. Even if the amount of money that can be raised by selling unused items is not large, various ripple effects are expected such as waste reduction, and increased recycling and reuse. KYOCERA Document Solutions will continue to actively promote this kind of volunteer activity in the future.

On January 30, 2011, a Children's New Year Festival, hosted by the Osaka City Child Welfare Facility Association, was held at Tennoji Ward Community Center in Tennoji Ward, Osaka. About 400 children from 11 child welfare facilities participated in the event and performed dances and plays that they had practiced for this special day.
KYOCERA Document Solutions has supported this event since 2009, by dispatching staff for behind-the-scenes work and presenting attractions. This year's event marked the third time we have participated in this event. We also presented commemorative items to children who exhibited their works at the painting exhibition that was held concurrently with this event. The children were very pleased to receive our presents. At the festival, KYOCERA Document Solutions Light Music Club members played music as volunteers. Everyone had a great time at this year's festival.
