The Social Welfare Subcommittee organizes and implements various social welfare activities, focusing on providing people with physical disabilities and children in child welfare facilities with opportunities to broaden their contact with society. These activities were commenced in fiscal 2007 and have become part of the culture of our company, involving many employees.

KYOCERA Document Solutions Headquarters, Hirakata Plant and Yoga Office (Tokyo R&D Center) regularly hold in-house sales of items produced at local welfare work centers.* Welfare work centers are invited during lunchtime to sell to KYOCERA Document Solutions employees various items made by disabled people. By providing disabled people with opportunities to experience working in general society, we seek to help them feel the joy of working and gain confidence toward achieving greater economic independence.

On August 28, 2010 we invited 30 children from two children's homes in Osaka City to a professional baseball game at Kyocera Dome Osaka. This year marked the sixth time we have organized this program; the number of participants (including leaders) thus far has totaled over 160. Each year various fun events are organized for children. This year, children were allowed to observe Orix players' batting practice in the front row of the seats behind home plate. The children looked very excited watching the players' powerful swings.
The children also enjoyed being photographed with mascots, having lunch at a restaurant, and having an autograph and handshaking session with Orix Buffaloes pitcher Kazuki Kondo. After the game, the children experienced base running. They looked really happy that they could run around the ground to their heart's content. KYOCERA Document Solutions considers this program very important and plans to continue it in the future.

On February 5, 2011, an ekiden (long distance relay race) and road race event hosted by the Osaka City Child Welfare Facility Association was held at the Kousaiin Ground in Suita City, Osaka. About 300 children from child welfare facilities participated in this sporting event, which features a 3.2 km road race, an ekiden race competed among facilities, and a tug of war. Eight employees from KYOCERA Document Solutions participated as volunteers, serving as course guides and providing support in assuring children's safety on the course.
KYOCERA Document Solutions employees who worked as volunteers said that they were moved by seeing the children run as fast as they could. KYOCERA Document Solutions will actively continue its support for this event, hoping to bring bright smiles to the children's faces.
