The Youth Development Subcommittee, which aims to promote the sound nurturing of the next generation, has implemented various programs, such as science experiment projects for elementary school students, environmental lectures on demand, and job experience programs. KYOCERA Document Solutions is committed to making long-term and sustained efforts to support the sound development of youth.

As part of its efforts to promote the sound nurturing of youth, KYOCERA Document Solutions conducts job experience programs to allow junior high students to experience "real" work environments. In fiscal 2010, we accepted students on two occasions. This program aims to educate students about the significance of working and raise their job consciousness, so as to encourage them to think about their interests and future careers and relate their learning to their future aspirations and professional development.

On November 11 and 12, the Headquarters accepted four students from Osaka Municipal Higashi Junior High School. The students experienced various tasks in different departments; they performed simulated operation at the Corporate R&D Division and participated in a telephone conference with an overseas sales company at the Corporate Global Marketing Division.
On January 26, the Hirakata Plant accepted two students from Hirakata Municipal Nagao Junior High School. After observing the production lines at the Machine Production Division and Chemical Products Division, they experienced individual packaging of service parts.
The students seemed very tense while on job training, but at a later date we received positive comments from them: "I learned that various technologies are employed in copiers," and "It was a fun and very valuable experience."

On November 18, 2010, the Hirakata Plant participated in the Environmental Lectures on Demand program, organized by the Hirakata Environment Network Conference, an environmental NPO in Hirakata City. A total of 14 lectures on environmental issues were given by administrative agencies, organizations and companies for first-year students at Hirakata Nagisa High School (283 first-year students were divided in 14 groups). Staff members of the Hirakata Plant delivered a lecture on "corporate environmental activities" to 20 students. In the lecture, an outline of the Hirakata Plant, environmental activities and results, and reuse and recycling activities were presented.
Some students offered positive comments: "I learned that companies are making efforts to preserve the environment," and "I thought that we should also engage in recycling activities on a daily basis."

On November 11, 2010, under the student career experience program "TRY OUT," the Hirakata Plant accepted 13 second-year students and two teachers from Hirakata Nagisa High School. This program is designed to provide students planning to enter employment after graduation with the opportunity to observe a real-life workplace environment so as to help them mentally prepare for employment. The Hirakata Plant receives students on company visits every year.
On the day of the visit, the Plant Manager explained the outline of the Hirakata Plant and talked about mental preparation for working life. After that, the students were taken on a guided tour of the plant.
