Osaka, Japan – June 25, 2014 – KYOCERA Document Solutions Inc. (herein "KYOCERA") announced today that the company held an opening ceremony for its new color toner factory on June 24. In September 2013, KYOCERA started construction of the new color toner factory building (Factory No. 6) on the premises of its Tamaki Plant in Mie Prefecture, the company's major domestic production base.
About 30 people attended the ceremony, including Mr. Eiichi Ishigaki, Deputy Governor of Mie Prefecture, and representatives from associated companies.
This four-story steel-framed building has a total floor area of 4,483.61 m2. In line with recent growing demand for color document output in the printer and multifunctional product (MFP) markets, demand for color toner has been increasing. To cope with such demand, KYOCERA is expanding its production facility, aiming to increase its color toner production capacity to 2.5 times greater than the current value by 2016. The company has also been developing a low-melting point color toner, and plans to manufacture the new product at this new factory. The new toner is expected to contribute to enhanced energy-saving performance of printers and MFPs.
KYOCERA continues to take a proactive business approach, anticipating customer needs. The company aims to contribute to regional revitalization through job creation by creating an integrated system of toner development, production to shipment centering on Tamaki Plant.
