Meerbusch, Germany – October 13, 2014 – KYOCERA Document Solutions has made it to the final round of the hotly contested Blue Angel Award 2014. The jury will announce the winner at this year's German Sustainability Award ceremony, an event held at the end of November.
Germany's Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, the Environment Protection Ministry, the Blue Angel Jury and RAL GmbH are closely cooperating for the Blue Angel Award 2014. This year will mark the third time they confer the Award, which honours companies that have made outstanding efforts toward achieving the goals embodied by Blue Angel's environmental protection values.
KYOCERA is certainly no stranger to the Blue Angel's 15-person jury, having been the first imaging equipment manufacturer to obtain the eco designation all the way back in 1997, when their FS-1700 printer received the Blue Angel label. Currently, 50 KYOCERA printers and multifunction devices possess RAL-UZ 171 certification. However, the hurdles to obtaining the designation are by no means a cakewalk, as each device must comply with over 100 environmental and safety requirements, which stipulate the use of environment-friendly materials, low energy consumption, recyclable design and more.
"Being one of the best known eco labels, the Blue Angel has always meant a great deal to KYOCERA. The designation's high standards are key guidelines for our engineers in their product design work. Thus, we are very proud of our nomination, which we see as recognition of our efforts on behalf of the environment," says Daniela Matysiak, Environmental and Device Safety Specialist with KYOCERA Document Solutions, Germany.
The principle of environment protection has long been a cornerstone in KYOCERA's corporate conscience. In fact, KYOCERA Document Solutions' ECOSYS technology has, since its appearance on the market, been the model of sustainable printing and copying. ECOSYS laser printers and multifunction devices' only consumable is toner, meaning they produce 75 percent less waste than conventional devices. And certainly indicative of their commitment to the environment is the KYOCERA Environment Award, a biennial award that rewards companies for innovations to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. KYOCERA's partnership goes back 27 years with Deutsche Umwelthilfe, an independent environmental and consumer protection organisation with whom they cooperate for this environmental accolade.
Not long from now, on November 28, 2014, the jury will announce the winner of the Blue Angel at the German Sustainability Award ceremony. Further information is available at http://www.nachhaltigkeitspreis.de/.
