In China, where social infrastructures are less developed, married couples cannot raise their children without the support of grandparents or relatives, because generally, both parents go to work. We operate an in-house nursery, Tongle Yuan, with the help of the plant's labor union. The nursery takes care of the employees' children, so that they can work without worry. Employees who entrust their children to this nursery commented, "We used to have our parents living in the rural area look after our small child. Now we can live together with my child by utilizing this nursery service".
Since 2014, another activity -- "Kyocera Summer Class" -- takes care of employees' children during the summer holiday. This year, 32 children were enrolled in this class.

Efforts for Safe Production Standardization

Since August 2013, we have acquired certification for Safe Production Standardization by Dongguan City Safe Production Administration. In November 2013, self-assessment of Safe Production Standardization was completed, and in December of the same year, we passed the on-site inspection. On June 20, 2014, we passed the audit by the Dongguan City Safe Production Administration and acquired a Class 3 Certification for Safe Production Standardization.
This effort promotes safety awareness to all plant employees and reduces the occurrence of occupational accidents.
We will continue to promote safe production management, in order to achieve a higher target.

Implementation of Environment and Safety Improvement Month

Each June is designated as Environment and Safety Improvement Month. We aim to create a safe and comfortable workplace for employees and improve safety awareness, in order to achieve zero industrial accidents. In the Environment and Safety Improvement Month, activities, such as clean-up around the plant and inspections of workplace safety are conducted.
Other activities are conducted for the prevention of occupational accidents, such as guidance on walking etiquette in our plant in April and KYT (Risk Prediction Training) in May.

Implementation of Fire-fighting and Evacuation Drills

Since 2004, we continue to work to maintain a safe working environment by conducting fire-fighting, fire evacuation, and initial fire extinguishing drills, in order to stress the importance of promptly performing firefighting operations to enable employees to protect themselves, as well as to minimize the damage in the event of a fire. In addition, since 2011, nighttime fire-fighting and evacuation drills have been conducted so that night-shift employees can conduct proper firefighting operations and give instructions to evacuate. These drills are important to improve employees' emergency response time and ensure their safety.

Efforts to Promote Employee Health

Protecting the health of employees is one of the important duties of a company. In July 2012, we opened an infirmary at the plant, wherein a licensed nurse is stationed, and a medical doctor is also available during predetermined hours every day. Having an infirmary in the plant allows employees to receive prompt treatment whenever they catch a slight cold or suffer a slight injury. In addition, employees can maintain good health by scheduling an annual medical checkup to ensure any medical treatment that may be needed as a result of their checkup is treated promptly.

We regularly provide all employees with educational courses, centering on the Kyocera Philosophy. Employees' abilities and minds are improved by actively providing new employee, management, professional, and "brush-up" courses.
In 2011, we established the higher education course, which provides employees with an appropriate education suited for them, in cooperation with a regional education organization, to expand their knowledge and "know-how." Graduates take advantage of the knowledge and techniques they have learned and apply that knowledge to their specific positions.

Welfare Programs

Ties among employees become stronger by enjoying free time together, deepening communications and strengthening bonds between them. We hold various events in cooperation with the plant's labor union for the employees' enjoyment.

1.Company Trip

Since 2013, as an expression of appreciation to employees who always peform their jobs to the best of their ability each day, we plan a company trip once a year. During the trip, participants enjoy a wonderful day together away from work.
In FY2018, the company trip was divided into three days, April 15,16 and 23, and a total of 3,935 employees and their families enjoyed the trip.

2.Birthday Party

We hold joint birthday parties for employees who celebrate their birthdays around the same time and provide them with meals and gifts.

The 12th Basketball Tournament competition was held in 2017. A total of 10 men's and women's teams, composed of employees selected from each department, competed for the championship from June 23 to August 23. Enthusiastically cheered-on by colleagues, the teams display a heated battle. Through these games, not only the players, but also colleagues coming to cheer for them, learn the importance of never giving up until the end.

4.Badminton Competition

In June 2017, the fifth annual Badminton Competition was hosted by the labor union. The qualifying round of this competition was held in the morning of June 11, and the final round was held in the afternoon of the same day, where 116 employees played exciting games. Through this competition, we would like employees not only to realize the joy of their own growth, but also to build communications between employees who do not come in contact with each other in their daily work.

5.Athletic Meet

Every November, all employees take part in an athletic meet. Employees participate in various games, including a cheering competition and team competition by divisions. It is a very popular event that also strengthens ties among employees.
From this year the meet is held at the external athletic field and this year 4,968 employees took part in.

Received a Commendation as an "Excellent Company" at the 2017 Shilong Town Safety Production Convention

Our daily efforts to create a safe workplace were evaluated by the government of Shilong Town, and we received a commendation as an "Excellent Company" at the 2017 Shilong Town Safety Production Convention, held in January, 2018.
