Kyocera Teams Up with Softsys to Power Malaysia’s Print Market

May 30, 2025

Kyocera Document Solutions Inc., a global leading provider of total document solutions and printing technology, has appointed Softsys Sdn Bhd as its official distributor in Malaysia. This strategic partnership aims to expand Kyocera’s regional footprint and strengthen its position in the multifunction products (MFP), printer, and high-speed cut-sheet inkjet production printer markets.

Alongside this appointment, Kyocera Document Solutions Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., has named Mr. Otsuki (Isaac) Aisaku as the new Managing Director. He will lead the company’s growth efforts, enhance customer engagement, and drive operational excellence.

“As some of our competitors exit this market, we are proud to increase our commitment and invest further in the channel to achieve our ambitions,” said Mr. Otsuki Aisaku. “Our strategy is to build on our core values and strengthen our commitment to the copier, MFP, and printer businesses in Malaysia.”

Kyocera’s regional leadership echoed this confidence. “We are confident that Mr. Otsuki’s leadership will further reinforce our position in Malaysia. With his vision and expertise, alongside the appointment of Softsys Sdn Bhd as our distributor, we are well-placed to deliver greater value to our customers,” said Mr. Hironao Katsukura, President of Kyocera Document Solutions Asia Limited.

As the authorised distributor, Softsys will oversee sales, distribution, and support for Kyocera’s extensive product range, including MFPs, inkjet production printers, document management software, and workflow solutions. This partnership is expected to improve Malaysian customers’ access to Kyocera’s innovative technologies with local expertise and service.

The collaboration also signals a strategic shift for Kyocera Malaysia, which plans to accelerate its presence in the commercial market after previously focusing on the government sector.

“Our goal is to showcase Kyocera’s strengths and vision for successful business growth to potential partners,” said Mr. Otsuki. The company aims to leverage Softsys’s industry knowledge and network to expand its reach across Malaysia, delivering Kyocera Document Solutions Total Solutions, supported by back office and frontline teams.

Mr. Katsukura underscored Malaysia’s importance in Kyocera’s ASEAN growth strategy. Since establishing its sales company in 2020, Kyocera has prioritised innovation and local partnerships, particularly in commercial inkjet printing. He emphasised a partner-centric approach, with ongoing collaboration and support to deliver tailored solutions.

Mr. Otsuki noted that Kyocera's partnership with Softsys is built on mutual trust, recognising their industry expertise and dealer network as key to expanding across Malaysia. He added that Kyocera will support Softsys across back-office and frontline operations to deliver Total Solutions.

Mr. KL Loh of Softsys reaffirmed this shared vision. “As a relatively young company, this partnership gives us the chance to address market gaps and broaden our reach. In addition to traditional office automation dealers, we will engage with system integrators and managed print service providers to extend our presence nationwide, including in East Malaysia.”

With Kyocera’s focus on building a strong commercial presence and Softsys’s drive to scale operations, both companies are committed to delivering innovation, service excellence, and long-term value to customers across Malaysia.
