Supporting works creation for the fashion brand 'SETCHU'.The fabric featuring FOREARTH printing was adopted.
Works designed and produced by the fashion brand SETCHU, featuring fabrics printed with our inkjet textile printer “FOREARTH,” was showcased at Milan Fashion Week Men’s 2026 Spring/Summer.
The Milan Fashion Week Men’s 2026 Spring/Summer edition was held over five days from June 20 to June 24, 2025 in Milan, Italy. Opening the event was SETCHU, a brand led by internationally acclaimed fashion designer, Mr. Satoshi Kuwata, based in Milan. The new spring/summer collection was presented in a runway format, featuring some looks made from fabrics printed using FOREARTH—our environmentally friendly inkjet textile printer based on a water-free concept that contributes to reducing environmental impact.
In April 2025, we opened the FOREARTH Experience Studio in Milan, Italy, where visitors can experience the concept and performance of FOREARTH. Mr. Kuwata personally visited the studio and was deeply impressed by FOREARTH’s sustainable concept and high performance, which led to the works creation support.
The works are made from translucent silk organza fabrics printed with FOREARTH in a rainbow pattern combining traditional Japanese and Western colors, expressing the rainbow over the Victoria Falls*. By layering these fabrics three times, the collection achieves a delicate and transparent finish. Moreover, as FOREARTH is a water- independent inkjet textile printer, samples could be quickly verified at the studio, significantly shortening lead times.
The brand name “SETCHU” comes from a Japanese word “Wayo Setchu” written in 和洋折衷, meaning the fusion of Japanese and Western cultures and concepts. SETCHU creates new value by blending styles and ideas from these two cultures. Drawing inspiration from classic objects, the brand emphasizes simple, functional, and unisex designs. It also embraces the spirit of “mottainai” (a sense of regret over waste) by actively adopting sustainable materials and manufacturing methods, proposing sustainable fashion that merges tradition with innovation.
*Victoria Falls is a UNESCO World Heritage site located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, featuring a 2-kilometer-wide waterfall with a 108-meter drop.
About Mr. Satoshi Kuwata
Born in Kyoto and based in Milan, he is a Japanese fashion designer who has built his career in London, Paris, and New York. In 2020, he founded SETCHU in Milan. His unique style, which fuses traditional Japanese aesthetics with Western modern sensibilities, has earned him international acclaim. In 2023, he won the grand prize at the LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize*, a prestigious competition that attracted over 2,000 emerging designers worldwide, marking him as a rising star in the global fashion scene.

“When I first saw the FOREARTH samples, I was amazed by the high quality of the fine lines. FOREARTH’s inkjet printing achieves a delicacy comparable to traditional silk-screen printing techniques, which truly impressed me as a testament to Japan’s advanced technology.
The concept for this show is ‘Zimbabwean and Japanese fusion’—a harmonious blend of cultures. Victoria Falls is famous for the rainbow that appears depending on the time and angle of the sun, and I wanted to focus on expressing that rainbow using Kyocera’s FOREARTH technology to create something unique.
Rainbows are not always visible; they appear only at certain angles and times. I envisioned capturing that delicacy by layering fabrics, leveraging FOREARTH’s ability to print extremely fine lines. Since rainbows consist of seven colors, we initially started with seven layers of fabric and then simplified the process. Through precise ink control enabled by digital printing, we successfully realized the vision I had in mind.
Moving forward, SETCHU aims to continue creating with originality and explore diverse directions beyond conventional fashion.
