Sustainability
At the Global Headquarters, we have participated since 2009 in the “Special Science Classes” program, which is organized by the Osaka City Board of Education in collaboration with private companies. To date, a total of 78 schools and approximately 5,300 elementary school students have taken part in the program.
Through hands-on, experiential learning, these classes aim not only to help children discover the excitement of science, but also to deepen their understanding of environmental issues and energy, thereby providing opportunities to think about a sustainable society. Specifically, the program includes experiments in which students copy pictures they have drawn themselves, as well as hands-on experiences operating MFP. Through these activities, students gain a practical understanding of how electricity is applied in familiar products. These initiatives are conducted with careful attention to safety management and instructional support, through close collaboration between school teachers and our employees.

Since 2005, the Tamaki Plant has been supporting the “Children’s Eco Activities” program promoted by Mie Prefecture. This initiative aims to foster interest in environmental issues and an awareness of building a sustainable society among children, who will shape the next generation throungh energy-saving activities at home.
Each year, its employees conduct outreach environmental education classes at elementary schools in Tamaki Town. During these classes, students use tools and worksheets to easily measure data such as household electricity consumption and waste generation. Based on the results, the students discuss energy-saving measures with their families, put them into practice, and verify the specific effects through continued efforts. Through this series of learning activities, the program aims to help students identify issues on their own, take action, and experience the results of their efforts, thereby fostering proactive environmental awareness and problem-solving skills. After the program, reflections are conducted in cooperation with the schools and the local board of education, with the outcomes used to improve the program and provide ongoing support.

Our Sales Company in Australia has participated annually in “Clean Up Australia Day” since 2003 with the aim of beautifying the local environment and fostering environmental awareness.
This initiative is organized by Clean Up Australia, a nonprofit organization founded by Ian Kiernan, an Australian representative in a round-the-world yacht race and an environmental activist. What began as a small individual action has grown into a nationwide cleanup movement. Our employees take part alongside local residents in collecting litter from streets, parks, and riversides, thereby contributing to environmental conservation and the local community.
We will continue to participate in this initiative and, through collaboration with the local community, contribute to raising environmental awareness and maintaining a clean and beautiful environment.
