Efforts for SDGs
Kyocera Document Solutions Group upholds the SDGs and contributes to their achievement
The "United Nations Sustainable Development Summit" was held at the United Nations Headquarters in September 2015, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were unanimously adopted by 193 member nations.
SDGs include 17 goals and 169 targets, which the international community, as a whole (including advanced nations), should address, in order to realize a sustainable future for 2030.
We will contribute to the realization of achieving 17 goals of SDGs by conducting various efforts, such as "Reduction of the usage of natural resources" and "Contribution to the conservation of biodiversity".
Primary Efforts
Here are several efforts we have implemented for achieving the goals of SDGs, which are presented by dividing the following four parts.
By clicking on the icon of each goal of SDGs, you can see the efforts concerning each of them.
1. Contribution to build a better society and community
<What we are aiming for>
We wish to contribute to the advancement of society and humankind and place the concept of "Living Together with our society, our global community and nature" (Living Together) at the core of all of our business activities. Therefore, we will conduct business activities, while establishing mutual relationships with our stakeholders (including users, suppliers, local residents and employees). We will continue to strive for coexistence and co-prosperity with our stakeholders and will contribute to the development of a sustainable society by implementing the ten principles posted in the Global Compact in which we, as a Kyocera group, take part.
4. Quality Education
Goal:
Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning

2. Contribution to Environmental Conservation: Reduction of Energy Consumption
<What we are aiming for>
At the 21th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) held in Paris, France in 2015, the Paris Agreement, concerning countermeasures for global warming, was adopted and entered into force in November 2016. This is an international rule which sets each nation's commitment regarding greenhouse gas emissions, beginning in 2020, to prevent global warming. In light of this rule, we will continue to develop the products which keep electricity consumption to an absolute minimum, as well as to promote the reduction of energy consumption at each business site and each plant.
7. Affordable and Clean Energy
Goal:
Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
Effort:
Product Use - Evaluation of the Environmental Impact of Products
13. Climate Action
Goal:
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Effort:
Product Use - Evaluating the Environmental Impact of Products
3. Contribution to Environmental Conservation : Reduction of Resource Usage
<What we are aiming for>
Goal:
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
Effort:
Product Use - Evaluating the Environmental Impact of Products
By continuing product development, based on the ECOSYS concept (in which environmental impact is minimized by maximally extending the life of printer parts and, thereby, reducing part and supply waste [Ecology], and providing economic advantages to the customer [Economy]), we will continue to reduce resource usage. Also, by promoting the collection and recycling of used products and toner containers, we will continue to reduce waste emission.
12. Responsible Consumption and Production
Goal:
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Effort:
Product End of Life - Efforts for Resource Conservation
Product End of Life - Collection and Recycling of used MFPs and Printers
Product End of Life - Collection and Recycling of Used Toner Containers
Raw Materials and Parts Procurement - Control of Chemical Substances Contained in Products
4. Contribution to Biodiversity Conservation
<What we are aiming for>
Our daily life and business activities depend on benefits from nature; however, on the other hand, they cause heavy damage to the ecosystem. Based on our management philosophy, "Living Together", we will continue to work on the conservation of biodiversity, which is being lost by damage to the ecosystem, in various ways.
15. Life on Land
Goal:
Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss
